A: AMRAP is an acronym for "As Many Rounds/Reps As Possible". It is a common type of workout in the CrossFit community. These workouts may be interval-based like Fight Gone Bad or Tabata or set within in a specific time limit. For example: "Cindy" is an example of an AMRAP workout that is set within a specific time limit:
"Cindy"
In 20:00, complete as many rounds as possible of the following:
One round consists of all three completed movements.
A: CrossFit has named many of their benchmark WODs after females. Likewise, there are many Hero WODs, which are named after fallen military personnel, police officers, firemen, etc.
A: No, all of our workouts are scalable to your athletic ability. It's a common misconception that you need to "get in shape" before you begin CrossFit. CrossFit is here to help reach your fitness goals, whether you are a novice or an elite athlete.
A: Yes. As mentioned above, our workouts are infinitely scalable. If you have an injury, our trainers will be happy to tailor the movements and exercises to your ability. That said, we cannot offer you specific medical advice and advise that you contact your physician before starting this (or any other) fitness program.
A: We suggest coming by and trying our free beginners class. The free workout will allow you to see what CrossFit is about and if CrossFit AMRAP is a good fit for you. The free class is offered on every Saturday at 10:00 am.
A: First you must complete our *Foundations classes before becoming a full-time member. You can sign-up for the Foundations program by visiting our Rates. For more information about the Foundations sessions, please visit Getting Started.
*While Foundations consists of six sessions, you will be able to participate in regular group classes after the first three sessions. It is, however, still required that you complete all of the Foundations classes.
A: We cover all of the gymnastic and bodyweight movements (e.g. pull ups, handstands, push ups, etc.) as well as the Olympic/Powerlifting lifts (e.g. Deadlift, Clean, Snatch, etc.) that are commonly utilized in CrossFit workouts.
To sign-up for Foundations sessions, please visit our Rates; for the most current Foundations dates and times, please visit our Foundations Sign-Up tab.
A: We admit it; the price can be a bit intimidating at first. However, you receive personal attention and training in each class. For example, let's say you come five days a week, for four weeks; you would only be paying $7.50/session. Compare this same scenario with a personal trainer at a more conventional gym, paying anywhere between $60-70/session. Here you could be spending up to $1400/month.
A: Yes, you still have to go through Foundations. However, since CrossFit is scalable to all levels, we will be able tailor our workouts to your ability. That said, even Superman had his kryptonite, and we want you to become consistent with the movements/lifts before you start saving the world.
A: No. You will, however, become more toned. CrossFit and/or lifting weights will not make you 70's Big unless you are fueling to gain weight.
A: Yes. We welcome CrossFitters from all over the world. Simply send us an email at matt@crossfitamrap.com or brittany@crossfitamrap.com or contact one of the coaches via phone to let us know when you are coming. There is no drop in fee if you are a paying a full-time membership at another affiliate.
A: Unless you have trained for an extensive period of time at another affiliate or have just completed a program similar to our Foundations classes, you will need to learn the basic CrossFit movements and lifts. We will assess whether or not you will need to repeat/take our beginners classes. Please feel free to contact us at contactus@crossfitamrap.com if you are in this current situation.
A: Whether or not you will be able to make it up with another group will depend on how many classes are being run at that time. You will be able to make up any missed classes privately for an additional fee.
Yes, we would actually charge you for an additional fee. We realize that people have very busy schedules and that missing class may be necessary; however, since you are potentially able to participate in regular unlimited group classes after three sessions, depending on how often you go, you may only be paying $10-15/class.
A: Yes and yes. One-on-training is available at the client's request for an additional fee. Please contact us at contact@crossfitamrap.com to set up an appointment and/or for more information.
A: No. You are only able to take part in group classes or private sessions. Think of it as a mentor-mentee relationship. We are your Sensei; you are our Grasshopper.
A: Please visit our Rates to sign-up for Foundations and our unlimited or punch card memberships. We only accept check and/or credit card payments though PayPal.
A: Unfortunately, no. We wish we were kidding. It's on our to-do list though.
