Random Thursday

There’s something about Thursday that I can’t quite put my finger on. In the past, Thursdays were (or can be) actually very slow. Reason being, most people come on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and take Thursday as a rest day. On other Thursdays, it can be surprisingly busy based what WOD is on the whiteboard that day. Thursdays also seem to be the day when people come in to make up previous workouts or strength that they missed or are doing different workouts and/or strength as supplemental training. Regardless of what type of Thursday it is though, Thursdays are always a bit more animated, and yesterday was no different.

When I arrived at the gym for the 5 o’clock class yesterday, there were 7 people signed up for class; only 6 were signed up to attend at 6 p.m., and there were 4 registered for class at 7 p.m. The numbers previewed a slow night. However, as the last ten minutes before the 5 p.m. class, each person that filed through the door suggested that the night would be anything but slow.

In the end 10 people showed up to complete the actual workout, which included 10 tire flips, an 800 meter run, 50 push ups, a 400 meter run, and then 50 tire jumps, and four others were there doing supplemental work. The numbers then only grew when 11 people showed up for class at 6 p.m. and 2 others showed up to prepare for their competition the upcoming weekend.

It wasn’t until the 7 p.m. class that we expected things to slow down a bit; however, our slow class quickly turned into a big one when we had 8 people show up to give AMRAP a try. Thankfully our regular members were more than happy to welcome the newbies and everyone was able to get in a good WOD before the cold settled in completely.

So here’s to another good (yet random) Thursday. Great work to everyone who showed! We’re glad that everyone was able to finally flip some tires and get a good run in before the weekend!

REMINDER: There is NO 9 a.m. class this Sunday, October 7th! We’re sorry for the late notice and hope everyone enjoys the day!
